day 2

Start your day with a sightseeing cruise on the Vltava River – disembark at the Čertovka dock and walk along the crown jewel – the Charles Bridge with its Baroque statues. On the other bank you will find yourself at the towering Old Town Bridge Tower. If you climb all 136 steps, you will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the bridge from above. Slip past the Klementinum to Old Town Square. Once you’ve had your fill of the Astronomical Clock and the Town Hall, head to the Jewish Quarter and visit the Old and Spanish Synagogues along with the Old Jewish Cemetery. Continue to the Gothic Powder Tower and end the day at the Art Nouveau Municipal House, where you can attend a concert or just admire the beautiful architecture or sit in the reopened American Bar, which was first opened in 1912 and is one of the ten oldest bars in Europe.

The dominant feature of Wenceslas Square is the imposing building of the National Museum, which we recommend starting the next day with a visit. After visiting the museum, walk down the square to 28. října Street, or continue to Národní Avenue, where you can walk through the Chicago Palace to the rotating statue of Franz Kafka. Follow in the footsteps of Kafka, Einstein, and Werfel with a stop for refreshment in the Slavia Café or Louvre Café. Continue towards the river past the magnificent National Theatre and take a pleasant walk along the river to the popular Náplavka embankment, where you can sit in one of the former ice vaults, recently converted to bars and shops. Continue along the promenade to the Dancing House and end the day with a ride to historic Vyšehrad.
