Zahradní restaurace Klamovka

The rich history of the garden restaurant Klamovka dates from 1895, when Matěj Hlaváček, Mayor of Košíře, bought the mansion from the Count Clam-Gallas family, then converted it and opened a garden restaurant with a ballroom. The surrounding park is ideal for pleasant walks and relaxing on the grass or park bench. Entertainment events and concerts take place here.

history

After the First World War, the Klamovka was greatly neglected until the 1930s when the whole building and restaurant were bought by the municipality which refurbished it as a sports hall. Later a pub opened once again next to the sports hall, and became the unofficial centre of dissident underground culture in the 1970s and 1980s; where you might have bumped into Václav Havel or members of the legendary rock band The Plastic People of the Universe.
